Renate Blank

Renate Blank was born on 4th of January 1959 in Munich.

She has been married to Thomas Langsch since 2007. She has a daughter and son from her first marriage.

Commitment to other people has always been important to her. For example, she co-founded the association “Projekt Jugend e.V.” in Munich-Aubing and chaired it. She also held various honorary positions in the community, such as in neighborhood help. She was also involved in the parents' council of her children's schools for over ten years, including two years as chairwoman.

Renate Blank met Emmanuel Musoke and Maria Goretti Namuyomba-Musoke during their visit to Germany in 2001. At this meeting, Thomas Langsch handed over the first donations that he and colleagues had collected through the proceeds from bottle deposits. Since then, Thomas Langsch and Renate Blank have been trying to obtain financial support for the maintenance and education of AIDS orphans in Uganda. To this end, Renate Blank has written regular reports on the status of the projects and called for donations.

Her idea was also to invite Emmanuel to Germany in 2004 for Thomas Langsch's 50th birthday. During this visit, concrete decisions were made for the further development of the projects in Uganda. Among other things, it was decided to open a general store and buy a plot of land in Uganda for reforestation and self-sufficiency for the Musoke family.

During the trip of Renate Blank and Thomas Langsch to Uganda/Masaka in 2006, they were able to see for themselves the enormous progress of the projects.

Deeply emotionally moved, she returned to Germany with the conviction that the people in Uganda need our support to be able to stand on their own two feet in the long term. Above all, she is committed to the numerous (orphan) children who would have no chance without help.

Renate Blank also sees her responsibility in promoting the (financial) independence of destitute Ugandan women, as they are responsible for raising and caring for children. This support is decisive to ensure that the women can make the essential contribution to the future of their children and thus of Uganda.
