Maria Goretti Namujomba Musoke

Maria Goretti Namujomba Musoke was born in Uganda on 22nd of November 1964. She is a registered nurse. Her parents, Joseph and Veronica Lubega, had five girls and three sons, three of whom have already died. Her father died in 1989 at the age of 65. Her mother is now almost 80 years old and lives with one of her daughters in northeastern Uganda.
On August 17th, 1996, Goretti Namujomba Musoke and Emmanuel Musoke married. They have five biological children:
Nakalembe Patricia (1996), Ndagire Petronilla Edeltrude (1998), Nalubaale Maria Pauline (2000), Nalwoga Josephine (2002) und Nsubuga Charles (2004).
Since 1997, they have also adopted nine children whose parents have either passed away or abandoned their children.
Currently, 30 children whose parents are unable to care for them are also living with Goretti Namujomba Musoke and Emmanuel Musoke. For another 80 children, who live with their own families, they pay the school fees and provide for their livelihood. A total of around 120 children are currently being cared for.
During a visit to Uganda by the chairmen of the Association, they were able to convince themselves that the goal of the Association: "Help for self-help" was implemented here in a great way. The project operates far beyond its borders; five surrounding small villages and thus about 255 families (800 adults and 1,533 children) benefit, e.g. through the construction of a medical center, the renovation and expansion of the local primary school or the creation of jobs.
Today, with the help of grants from other sources, the project is self-sustaining, which is why Hand in Hand für Uganda e.V. has been investing its resources and opportunities in new activities since summer 2011.
